v1.13.0 – Shared Notes

In this release Flatnotes-Enhanced introduce the Shared Notes feature. You can now share any note via a secure, token-based link.

What you can do

• Share any note with Read only or Can edit permission
• Set an optional expiry (7/30/90 days or never)
• Add a password for extra protection
• Create multiple links for the same note
• View activity tracking – see how many times a link was accessed and when

How to share

1. Open any note and click the Share button in the toolbar
2. Choose permission level (Read only / Can edit)
3. Set expiry (optional)
4. Add a password (optional)
5. Copy the generated link and send it

Recipients open the link in their browser – no Flatnotes-Enhanced account needed.

Manage your shares

Share modal (per note):

• See all active links for the current note
• View counts and last-accessed times
• Copy or revoke individual links
• "Revoke all" button when multiple links exist

Shared Links admin page (/shares):

• Access from NavBar → Shared Links
• Overview of every active share link across all notes
• Grouped by note for easy scanning
• Revoke individual links or revoke all per note
• Empty state and refresh button

Indicator	What it means
Orange Shared button	This note has active share links
Shared: {date} in note footer	When the first share link was created

Security

• Tokens are stored as SHA-256 hashes only – raw tokens are never persisted
• Password protection – optional bcrypt-hashed password per link
• Expiry dates enforced server-side
• No caching – share routes excluded from service worker cache
• Revoke is immediate – links stop working instantly

⚠️ Important security notes

• Share links bypass normal login – anyone with the URL can access the note
• Read-only links can be forwarded – use a password to restrict access
• Write links allow editing – only share with trusted people
• Tokens are shown once – store or send them immediately
