Add an overview of spendings for each tag

Add an overview of spendings for each category in a simple and straight forward way.
Requires: #364 to be implemented first
This should probably be a separate screen, opened by another bottom navigation tab or another action.

Hi there, first off thank you for making this app.
As referred to in #364 & #347 would it be possible to add multiple accounts/profiles/categories to the app to keep track of recurring payments out of multiple bank accounts, or multiple types of payments (eg. Loans, bills, subscriptions, etc)

This would help narrowing down budgets a lot simpler, as many other apps that do a similar job also become convoluted trying to fit too much into their app.

Could also help those with joint accounts (like relationships) that have subscriptions like Netflix, bills, etc while still keeping your personal account separate to keep you on track with spendings

Hi @crumycrum, from what you're describing, introducing categories like in #364 would solve your problem, no? Categories combined with filters, in which you can only see the cost for a selected category like it is described in #542. Or do I miss anything?

I'd say Categories like #364 would be closer to what I'm describing. An extra tab at the bottom of screen with "Categories" might be the easiest to navigate, then for each expense when setting up either leave the "Category" option blank (which defaults to total shown in Home), otherwise set up/link to a Category and have each shown in colour-coded options in the "Categories" tab

Could also have integration with the Upcoming tab to differentiate the payments based on Category - then when deep diving show the totals for each Cat

If 2 or more Cats set up then could take advantage of the grid view too so that each Cat shows Upcoming Payments side-by-side vertically. In the Home it could also make use of this & separate by grids with breakdowns of Weekly/Monthly/Yearly depending how it's laid out

Thanks for the elaboration, let me try to summarize to see whether I fully got your feature request:
It requires to have categories to be introduced first. After that it is about filter options to see a subset of the expenses by category (single or multiple selected). Your suggestion is to have another tab for that. Did I miss anything?
To me it shouldn't be a separate tab but rather some way to filter it in the two existing tabs but that should also work for you I guess.

Definitely Categories set up first. If the filtering is implemented to the existing tabs would there still be a way to see each category grouped up on both pages showing each recurring payment directly in that tab. For example instead of (opening Home and then clicking Filter then select it, or opening Home > shows each category > click category > display expenses), it'll display the categories directly on the tab organised & ready to see instantly.
This is why I suggested an extra tab which shows you all Categories without having to choose which filter to see or open each category. The suggestion for taking advantage of the grid would be displaying expenses vertically per Cat, potentially allowing for 3-4 columns & only show Title of expense + Amount. The Categories tab could be toggled in Settings if people still want to use the app as is

Otherwise the Upcoming tab could instead include Sort By: Category & achieve a similar result

Ok sorry for asking that many questions, but I think now I got your point. I agree to achieve that a separate tab would make more sense to have an overview of a sum of spendings for each category. There you could scroll through the categories and see how much you spend on each.

That's exactly it. The interface is already clean, if more options were added to existing tabs then it'll make it too congested. By preventing the user clicking through filters or categories the app still shows the organised expenses but removes the extra clutter.

This app excels at simplicity; the more clicks you add the more scary the app becomes, and when dealing with money you don't wanna be overwhelmed with fancy menus & drilldowns - you wanna just quickly glance & know where your money's coming out of
