Describe the need of your request

I'm primarily an F# developer and use JetBrains tools on the daily for all my work. I was excited to see this new plugin appear in Rider, but was sad to learn I could not use it for my F# work! Specifically, it says: "ASM Viewer only works with C# files"

Proposed solution

Add support for F# files (if feasible)

Hey John Wostenberg (@jwosty), thanks for the request! Great to hear you're using JetBrains tools for your F# work :)

F# support is something we'd like to add eventually, but it's not on the roadmap right now

For what it's worth, here's roughly what it would take, at first glance:

1. Extend the language guard in AsmMethodLocator.cs (currently it explicitly rejects non-C# files)
2. Add a context action for F# files - a separate class mirroring the existing ShowAsmViewerContextAction
3. Extend the PSI node predicate in JitDisasmTargetUtils.IsValidDisasmTarget() to recognize F# declaration types
4. Possibly adjust GetTarget() for F# module-level functions, since top-level let bindings compile to IL slightly differently

The changes should be fairly localized - no need to touch the Kotlin frontend or the disassembly pipeline - so it shouldn't be too hard to get started. That said, the exact F# PSI interface names would need to be looked up in the Rider SDK

Regardless - amazing stuff you all at JetBrains have been and continue to be doing. And seeing more open source stuff is exciting!
