What is the scope/feature you have in mind?

What would you like to change?

As a more advanced user i feel that the granularity of what panels i get in my dashboards i build with the dashboard framework is too sparse.

I therefore suggest a ”Panel Library” in the ”Dashboard Features” step.

When i click on that button i would be brought to another page with a pick and choose approach of all available panels with a short description for each.

This we could achieve by making sure that all lib panels are in 1 specific folder in grafana and then with the grafana api library element endpoint get all lib panels and sort for that folder.

When i decide on that i want 1 or more panels listed i would tick a box next to that panel in the ”Panel Library” page.

Then those panels i selected would be added to the final Grafana dashboard JSON.

Combining prebuilt Dashboard Features and custom chosen panels may be supported.

What do you think about if we let the feature have toggles instead? (Like what we do right now in Novus / Kubernetes Feature)

When we enable a Dashboard Feature we enable a set of library panel, based on the input. Some features (ex: Logs) just produce 1 panel, so maybe we can add these toggles on each feature that might use them more. We did that in Kubernetes / Novus one, where you can select ingresses, or deployments, or the cost optimization.

We want the dashboard-framework users to think less about Library Panels, and more about What value a user get from the dashboards. The users are necessarely technically skilled or know what a specific library panel does, but they know what they want to read.

Rephrasing: I would prefer to let this be in the dashboard futures and to let the users answer user-friendly questions within the context of the dashboard feature step, (Ex: "Do you want to monitor the cost of Novus?" in the Novus step on the wizard), instead of asking specific Library Panels next to all others :)
