Usually, when you use an eGPU you want replace original integrated gpu. However, if not eGPU plugged you need all calls ton integrated GPU. Also, it's very important that all calla to the GPU (mixed calla tend to block EGPU).
I think Cardwire's modes don't work in eGPU. For example, in eGPU with thunderbolt, Cardwire block services as BOLTD (service for thunderbolt).
