Description boxes on group/event view do not display text formatting

Event descriptions do not show links or emphasis on text, and even line breaks disappear - wedging two lines of text together. When the description is long enough, and on profile pages, you get a ‘Read more’ link below it, which shows the text correctly in a pop-up. However, here for example 2 there is no such option.
