Neon Breakline was conceived with a "Fast-to-Market" goal, focusing on rapid prototyping and efficient system architecture. The game follows an arcade-style gameplay where horizontal movement is automated, challenging the player to master rhythmic obstacle evasion through precise timing and specialized mechanics (Like the jump, slide, attack and parry).
As a solo programmer, I focused on creating a robust and modular foundation to ensure smooth gameplay and ease of re-creation:
- Core Systems: Developed movement, jump, attack, slide, and parry mechanics.
- State Management: Implemented logic to handle fast-paced transitions between player actions and animations.
- Level Design Workflow: Created tools to balance mechanics and maintain a continuous gameplay flow.
- Controller and keyboard support
The game is out and will be updated with more levels and polish if there is enough support.
