Currently, all newly created tasks are automatically placed in the root folder by default. For users who maintain complex organizational structures or use specific folders for "Inboxes," this creates manual work to move tasks individually, which can disrupt the workflow.
Describe the solution you'd like
I would like to see an option added to the App Settings that allows users to define a default destination folder for new tasks. Instead of defaulting to the root directory, the user should be able to select any existing folder from their library to act as the primary "entry point" for tasks.
Describe alternatives you've considered
An alternative could be a "Move on Creation" prompt, but a global setting is much more efficient for maintaining a clean root directory and supporting "GTD" (Getting Things Done) methodologies where an Inbox folder is essential.
Additional context
The proposed change would likely involve:
- A new Section in the Settings - Tasks panel titled "Default Task Location."
- We could use an input field to write the name of the folder where we want to save newly created tasks.
- When a task is created via the "New Task" button, the app checks this setting to determine the parent directory.
