microfolio 1.0.0 — Bauhaus

microfolio 1.0.0 is out — codename Bauhaus. A year after the first beta, this is the version we call stable.

microfolio turns a folder of Markdown files and images into a portfolio site — static, fast, and built for designers, architects, photographers and artists who would rather not run a CMS. A grid, a list and a world map of your projects, a lightbox that reads your images' metadata, dark mode, English and French.

What 1.0 brings

• Privacy by construction › no cookies, no analytics, no consent banner to write; a YouTube or Vimeo address alone on its line becomes a player, in the platforms' no-cookie modes
• Fast, and findable › every page prerendered, Open Graph tags, canonical links, sitemap.xml and robots.txt generated from your projects
• Updates that keep what is yours › pnpm update-microfolio moves a site to a new release file by file and never touches your content, your config, your favicon or your sharing image
• A demo to learn from › thirty projects in a Bauhaus spirit; pnpm demo puts them next to yours, pnpm demo --remove takes them out
• Made for forks › push to main and GitHub Pages deploys; push to dev and only the checks run

And a promise. What you build on stays valid until 2.0: the content/ layout and the frontmatter keys, the keys of config.js, the commands, and the files an update never touches. The look, the dependencies and the internals stay free to move in 1.x — the details are in the README, under Stability.
