The python-dateutil package could potentially be used to take care of this issue. It is well respected in the Python community and has a robust date parsing strategy:

>>> from dateutil.parser import parse
>>> parse('2021-01-01T00:00:00+00:00')
datetime.datetime(2021, 1, 1, 0, 0, tzinfo=tzutc())
>>> parse('Wed Dec 11 14:59:44 2024')
datetime.datetime(2024, 12, 11, 14, 59, 44)
