[Feature]: IMAP/SMTP backwards compatiability #51

Description

@ben-mcginty

Problem / Motivation

I have recently migrated to Thundermail (yay!), however I am still stuck with 15 years worth of Gmail, and the multitude of accounts that come with it unfortunately. I would like to be able to continue to use it and my new email in the same client.

Proposed Solution

I propose that we also implement a legacy IMAP/SMTP module in addition to the existing JMAP implementation (and maybe Microsoft Exchange while we are at it). This would also help us support future standards when (it's inevitable isn't it?) they come around.

Alternatives Considered

I have set up automatic email forwarding from Gmail to my new account but it is clunky, slow and then I end up with duplicate emails everywhere that I have to clean up.

Feature Area

Authentication / Security

Mockups / Examples

Additional Context

This would also boost adoption as JMAP is still pretty niche and it will take a while for the big players to adopt it, we may as well start getting users in early.
