`cursor_shake_magnify` effect for `breeze_cursors` only works during grim and obs screencast

The magnified pointer is being show split/with incomplete scaling when I am not using such applications.

Can you give more details about this? Like how you configure cursors and scroll, how I can reproduce it, etc. Maybe even provide an image that shows the problem...

I set the size with seat seat0 xcursor_theme breeze_cursors 32.

Once taken, the cursor returns to the cut in half behavior when I shake it.

Can you try with some other theme and see if it works? I use Adwaita and it works for me. It would be good to know if it is something general in your system, or just particular to that theme. I set in my .bash_profile:

export XCURSOR_THEME=Adwaita
export XCURSOR_SIZE=24

It could be an issue related to software vs hardware cursors.

Sorry, I cannot reproduce it. I tried software and hardware cursors, installed breeze-cursors, and everything works as expected in all cases.

What is your graphics card and driver?

I can only suggest you try a couple of things:

1. Set the cursor theme as an environment variable before starting scroll. Some applications query this variable
2. Try a different theme to see if that changes anything (it shouldn't).
3. Force software cursors to see if that fixes the problem and we have an idea of why this isn't working for you. For this, you need to start scroll with the environment variable WLR_NO_HARDWARE_CURSORS set to 1. For example: WLR_NO_HARDWARE_CURSORS=1 scroll.
