Feature Request: Enable Docker/Containerization Support in Pi 5 Kernel Config

Request Description

I am using a Raspberry Pi 5 (16GB RAM) primarily as an Android TV device. Because of the large amount of RAM, I want to utilize its full power by running background Docker containers alongside the Android TV system 24/7.

Currently, the kernel configuration lacks the necessary options to support Docker and other containerization tools smoothly under the hood. I attempted to recompile the kernel myself to enable these configs but ran into build and configuration failures.

Desired Behavior

Please consider enabling standard Linux container/Docker configs in the defconfig for the Raspberry Pi 5 kernel.

This would allow 16GB Pi 5 owners to maximize their hardware utilization by hosting lightweight home server containers under the hood of their TV setup such as (homeassistant, pi-hole...etc).
As you also know due to RAM crisis, buying another Pi is really hard.

Enabling kernel configuration options to support Docker is not in scope of this project. You're of course welcome to compile your own kernels with required drivers enabled.

Kernel configuration is based on AOSP upstream Android GKI (Generic Kernel Image) configuration (https://github.com/raspberry-vanilla/android_kernel_brcm_rpi/blob/android-17.0/arch/arm64/configs/gki_defconfig) with Raspberry Pi specific configuration in a separate fragment (https://github.com/raspberry-vanilla/android_kernel_brcm_rpi/blob/android-17.0/arch/arm64/configs/bcm2712_gki.fragment). This is parsed into complete .config (https://github.com/raspberry-vanilla/android_kernel_brcm_rpi/blob/android-17.0/arch/arm64/configs/android_rpi5_defconfig) that is used to compile the kernel.

Appropriate steps to enable additional drivers would be add the configuration in bcm2712_gki.fragment and regenerate android_rpi5_defconfig. I.e.

tools/bazel build --config=fast --config=stamp //common:rpi5_defconfig
cp bazel-bin/common/rpi5_defconfig/.config common/arch/arm64/configs/android_rpi5_defconfig

and commit your changes.

If some drivers don't get enabled, you'd need to dig into relevant Kconfig file and see what other configuration options it depends on and enable them as well.
