When pip installing from github repo you may get a smudge error from git lfs. This is most likely because of commits from contributors without git lfs activated or with git lfs configured incorrectly.
I will look into removing git lfs from the repository all-together, as notebooks shared here should be clean enough to have moderate file sizes. However, cleaning up git lfs seems to be a bit of a pain (git-lfs/git-lfs#3026).
I will look into this when time. For now running git lfs install --skip-smudge solves it temporarily (run git lfs install to revert to usual behaviour).
