AI Reply Assistant

This is a Chrome extension that helps you write replies anywhere on the web using Google's Gemini. Whether you're responding to emails, messages, social media posts, or comments, it can generate a reply in just one click.

It works on websites like Gmail, LinkedIn, Facebook Messenger, X, Reddit, Discord, Slack, ChatGPT, Google Docs comments.

Installation

Load the Extension

1. Download or clone this repository.
2. Open Chrome and go to:

chrome://extensions

3. Enable Developer mode.
4. Click Load unpacked.
5. Select the project folder.
6. The extension will appear in your browser toolbar.

Getting a Gemini API Key

This extension uses Google's Gemini API. You'll need your own free API key.

1. Visit Google AI Studio.
2. Create a free API key.
3. Open the extension settings.
4. Paste your API key.
5. Save your settings.

Your API key is stored only on your computer using Chrome's local storage. It is never uploaded to any third-party server.

How to Use

Generate Replies

1. Click inside any text box or message field.

2. A small ✨ AI button will appear.

3. Click it.

4. Choose a writing style or enter a custom instruction.

5. The extension generates a reply based on the conversation.

6. You can:

   • Insert it directly.
   • Copy it.
   • Generate another version.

Use from the Toolbar

Click the extension icon to:

• Generate replies manually.
• View recent replies.
• Access your favorite prompts.
• Open the settings page.

Keyboard Shortcut

Open the reply popup instantly:

• Windows/Linux: Ctrl + Shift + R
• Mac: Cmd + Shift + R

Right-click Menu

Right-click inside any editable text field and choose AI Reply Assistant to quickly generate a reply.

Permissions

The extension requests only the permissions it needs.

The extension does not collect your browsing history or send your personal data to any external server other than Google's Gemini API when generating replies.
