Summary

Captured learnings from a multi-source research pass (pour-over theory, then Fellow Aiden / Ode Gen 2 / BWT-water specific) done to check our brewing biases. Several house defaults were biased for delicate light naturals and Geishas.

Changes to skills/brew/SKILL.md

  • New "Delicate light naturals & Geishas" callout: flat pulses (~94 °C) + hot bloom (~96 °C) instead of a descending ramp; ratio 16–16.5; bloom 2–2.5× (not reflexive 3×); finer grind. Rationale + sources inline (Fellow's flat per-coffee natural Drops; descending suits darker/soluble coffees).
  • Grind: added Fellow's first-party natural-Geisha numbers (Ode Gen 2 = 3.1–4.2 SS, 6–9 batch), allowed decimal grind output, kept the Gen 1→Gen 2 "finer at same dial → go coarser" note consistent with prior user feedback.
  • New "Water (BWT magnesium-forward)" section: magnesium amplifies perceived fruit/floral; "magnesium over-extracts" is marketing (contradicted by peer-reviewed data); never grind coarser for the water; the real risk is low alkalinity → sharp/sour (fix via weaker ratio or buffer).
  • Red flags updated to match (Geisha grind, descending ramps, water-driven grind changes).

Not changed

  • Pure documentation/skill content — no code, so /simplify (code reuse/quality) isn't applicable.

Version

0.1.1 → 0.1.2

Multi-source research (pour-over theory + Aiden/Ode-Gen-2/BWT-specific)
to check our brewing biases surfaced several corrections:

- Delicate light naturals/Geishas: prefer FLAT pulses (~94C) + hot bloom
(~96C), not a descending ramp. Descending is Fellow's generic house
style; their best per-coffee natural Drops are flat.
- Grind finer for Geisha/delicate naturals: Fellow's own natural-Geisha
call is Ode Gen 2 = 3.1-4.2 SS / 6-9 batch (vs our generic light=5).
- Bloom 2-2.5x is Fellow's norm; 3x is the high end, not a default.
  Ratio 16-16.5 for Geisha clarity.
- New Water section: BWT magnesium-forward water amplifies perceived
  fruit/floral; 'magnesium over-extracts' is marketing (peer-reviewed
data: cations are modifiers, not extraction boosters). Don't grind
coarser for it; the real risk is low alkalinity -> sharp/sour.
- Grind line clarified (decimals OK; keep the Gen1->Gen2 'finer at same
dial, go coarser' note consistent with prior feedback).
- Red flags updated to match.

Bumps plugin 0.1.1 -> 0.1.2.
