The first mainline diesel train for the American region rebalance/expansion: the TFL-1 'Tandem', based on the EMD FT A and B units. This diesel locomotive is available between 1939 and 1965, has a top speed of 65 mph, and a power of 2700 hp. Its intended as the successor to the OGE Mikado, as a slightly slower, freight and bulk passenger oriented engine. Its main balancing factor for the power it offers is its length and relatively high running cost, for a diesel.
