+# **Redesigning DMND: My Summer of Bitcoin Experience**
+
+## **What I set out to do**
+
+When I started Summer of Bitcoin, my biggest goal was simple: make the most of the opportunity.
+
+Getting the chance to design for a real company like DMND was something I did not want to take lightly. Even though DMND is open source, I wanted to approach the work with the same level of seriousness I would have if I were working on a product in a full-time role. I didn't want to just create designs that looked good in Figma. I wanted to design something that could actually be built, used, and improved.
+
+I also wanted to challenge myself. Bitcoin mining was not an area I knew deeply before the program, so I knew I would have to learn a lot along the way.
+
+
+
+## **What I built**
+
+My main responsibility was designing the DMND mining dashboard, and I worked across the product from the beginning to the end.
+
+I designed the main dashboard experience and worked through areas such as workers, subaccounts, payouts, watcher views, security, account management, and other mining-related workflows.
+
+As I became more familiar with the product, I also started noticing gaps and areas that could be improved. Some of these were outside the original work, but I designed solutions for them where I felt they could make the experience better.
+
+Beyond the dashboard, I also designed the new DMND website, the How to Build a Block pages, and visual assets for the upcoming dashboard video.
+
+
+## **Major design and technical decisions**
+
+One thing I learned very quickly was that product design does not happen in isolation.
+
+Some of the decisions I made had to be checked against what was technically possible. For example, while working on the watcher experience, onboarding, and session-related flows, I had to understand how the backend and API worked and whether the design could actually be supported by the existing system.
+
+This meant asking questions, discussing things with the developer, and sometimes changing my approach based on technical limitations.
+
+That was one of the parts of the internship I enjoyed most because it pushed me to think beyond:
+
+"Does this look good?" and more towards: "Does this make sense, can we build it, and does it solve the problem?"
+
+## **What shipped**
+
+The biggest thing for me is that this wasn't just a Figma project.
+
+The DMND dashboard has been implemented, and the new website has also been designed and implemented.
+
+Seeing the work move from something I created in Figma into something that actually works was probably one of the most rewarding parts of the entire experience.
+
+The product is currently on staging, so the next major step is getting it ready to go live and eventually seeing real users interact with the work.
+
+There is still some design review and refinement happening on the dashboard to make sure the implementation stays as close as possible to the final designs, but my main design work is complete.
+
+## **What remains**
+
+The main thing left is getting the product ready for release and making sure the implemented dashboard is properly aligned with the designs.
+
+I am still reviewing the implementation and giving feedback where I notice inconsistencies or areas that can be improved.
+
+Beyond that, I would love to keep supporting DMND where I can and continue contributing to the Bitcoin ecosystem.
+
+## **What I learned**
+
+I learned a lot during this internship.
+
+The biggest learning curve was Bitcoin mining itself. Concepts that were unfamiliar to me at the beginning gradually started making more sense as I worked directly on the product. I had to learn how different parts of the mining experience connect and use that knowledge to make better design decisions.
+
+I also learned that good product design requires a lot of unlearning.
+
+Sometimes the way I would normally approach a design did not make sense for this product. I had to question my assumptions, ask more questions, listen to technical feedback, and adapt.
+
+I also learned a lot from working with an international team. I got to work with people from different countries and backgrounds, which was a new experience for me. It made the internship feel much bigger than just the product I was working on.
+
+And honestly, I had fun.
+
+I got to meet people I probably would never have met otherwise, learn about a completely new area, see my work become a real product, and experience what it feels like to contribute to an open-source project with people from different parts of the world.
+
+## **What happens next**
+
+I want to keep contributing to Bitcoin.
+
+This internship made me more interested in working on products within the Bitcoin and open-source ecosystem, and I would love to continue building in this space.
+
+For DMND specifically, I am happy to keep supporting the team where I can, whether that means reviewing the product, giving design feedback, or contributing to future improvements.
+
+And beyond this project, I am looking forward to finding my next opportunity where I can keep learning, take on more responsibility, and work on products that have real users and real impact.
+
+## **Looking back**
+
+When I look at where I started and where I am now, I think the biggest difference is not just the number of screens I designed.
+
+It's how much my thinking changed.
+
+I started the internship wanting to make good designs. I am leaving it with a better understanding of how to design with the product, the technology, and the people using it in mind.
+
+I'm grateful that I got to experience that through Summer of Bitcoin.
+
+I came in wanting to make the most of the opportunity. I'm leaving proud that the work I created is now part of a real product.
+
+And I hope this is not the end of my journey in Bitcoin. I would really love for it to be the beginning.
