Student Project Resources

This repository contains information that may be relevant to those working on taught student research projects in the SykesLab, as well as some information that might be more generally applicable to all projects (especially regarding reports).

Those studying projects as part of taught modules (e.g. ES327 and ES97N) should refer to the respective Moodle pages for module-specific information such as assessment.

CFD projects

Many projects we run are based on CFD, generally using OpenFOAM. Since OpenFOAM is not taught in Warwick Engineering, and CFD is not taught until year 4, many of the documents in resources are dedicated to helping you get started in CFD. The documents generally link to other resources, with additional commentary provided to highlight (or where I do not have another relevant resource, explain) our typical ways of working.

  • If you are going to be using a Linux-based code (e.g. OpenFOAM, Basilisk), then start with learning linux.
  • If you are new to CFD, then there is a general introduction provided. Typically, I would suggest having a go at running some basic tutorials in your CFD software
