Senior Full-Stack Engineer · Core Maintainer & Tech Lead at OpenCRVS
I build and maintain OpenCRVS — the open-source civil registration platform 7 governments use to record births, deaths, and legal identity. Bugs in this domain carry legal consequences, so my work centers on data integrity, fault tolerance, and compliance-grade security — software that ships offline-first to regions where connectivity fails. I lead an 8-engineer team and ship weekly releases to registries serving millions of citizens.
- Led a production MongoDB → PostgreSQL migration for a national-scale citizen registry — unified querying, eliminated cross-store inconsistencies
- Made microservices 5x–10x faster via query optimization, caching, and data-model refactoring — a prerequisite for low-connectivity deployments
- Cut core registration flows from a 15-second freeze to <500ms via React profiling and memoization
- Replaced hardcoded role permissions with a declarative scope-based authorization system used across the platform
