Pixal Source-Available License
Version 1.1, 2026-08-20

Copyright (c) 2026 Jesse Dubberke. All rights reserved.

Pixal is source-available, not open source. You can read it, run it, and
change it for yourself. You cannot pass it on. Contributions are welcome.

1. DEFINITIONS

"The Software" is Pixal: the source code, configuration, templates,
documentation, brand assets and installers in this repository.

"Licensor" is Jesse Dubberke, the copyright holder.

"You" is the individual or entity exercising the permissions below.

"Third-Party Components" are the separately licensed works listed in
THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md, together with everything the installer downloads
at run time - ComfyUI, node packs, model weights, runtimes and
dependencies. They are not covered by this License. See Section 6.

2. WHAT YOU MAY DO

Subject to Sections 3 and 4, the Licensor grants You a worldwide,
royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

(a) install and run the Software on machines You own or control, for any
purpose including commercial purposes, subject to Section 6;

(b) view and study the source code;

(c) modify the Software for Your own use, and run Your modified version
on machines You own or control;

(d) make backup copies for Your own use; and

(e) submit Your modifications back to the Licensor under Section 5.

Images, video and other output You create with the Software are Yours.
The Licensor claims no rights in Your output. Note that some model
licenses impose their own terms - see Section 6.

3. WHAT YOU MAY NOT DO

Without the Licensor's prior written permission, You may not:

(a) distribute, publish, share, sell, rent, lease, sublicense or otherwise
make the Software - modified or unmodified, in whole or in
substantial part - available to any third party;

(b) host the Software as a service, or otherwise make its functionality
available to third parties over a network;

(c) publish the source code, or post it to any public repository, paste
site, model hub, forum or archive;

(d) remove, obscure or alter any copyright, license or attribution notice,
including the brand assets in brand/ and web/icons/; or

(e) use the Licensor's names, logos or marks to endorse or promote any
product, except to state factually that a work was made with Pixal.

Receiving a copy of the Software does not grant You the right to give one
to anybody else. Refer them to the Licensor instead.

FORKING TO CONTRIBUTE. Sections 3(a) and 3(c) do not prohibit You from
using the fork feature of a hosting platform on which the Licensor has
himself published the Software, where You do so in order to prepare and
submit a contribution under Section 5. Such a fork must stay on that
platform, must keep this License and every attribution notice intact, and
must not be presented as an independent or competing distribution. It is
not permission to publish the Software anywhere else, and the Licensor may
ask You to remove it once it has served its purpose.

4. RESERVATION OF RIGHTS

All rights not expressly granted in Section 2 are reserved by the
Licensor. No rights are granted by implication or estoppel.

5. CONTRIBUTIONS

Contributions are genuinely welcome. See CONTRIBUTING.md for how to
submit them and for the terms that apply.

In short: by submitting a contribution You grant the Licensor a perpetual,
irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, modify, sublicense
and relicense it, including under different license terms in future
versions of the Software. You keep Your own copyright in what You wrote.
You confirm You have the right to grant this.

This exists so that the Software can be relicensed later - including as
open source - without having to track down every past contributor.

6. THIRD-PARTY COMPONENTS

The Software drives, installs and downloads software and models it does
not own. Those carry their own licenses, and this License grants You no
rights in them. THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md lists what the Licensor is aware
of. Two consequences worth stating plainly:

(a) ComfyUI is licensed under GPL-3.0. The Software is an independent
program that communicates with ComfyUI over its HTTP API as a
separate process; it is not a derivative work of ComfyUI and is not
distributed with it. Any ComfyUI custom node authored by the Licensor
is a separate work carrying its own GPL-3.0 license.

(b) Some model weights carry non-commercial or otherwise restricted
licenses - the Anima model is one. The Software does not redistribute
weights; it downloads them to Your machine on Your instruction, and
Your use of them is governed by their licenses, not this one. It is
Your responsibility to comply with them.

7. TERM AND TERMINATION

This License applies for as long as You comply with it. It terminates
automatically if You breach Section 3, and the Licensor may terminate it
at any time on written notice. On termination You must stop using the
Software and destroy Your copies. Sections 4, 6, 8, 9 and 10 survive.

8. NO WARRANTY

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS
OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND
NONINFRINGEMENT. THE SOFTWARE IS PRE-RELEASE AND MAY BE INCOMPLETE OR
UNSTABLE. IT DOWNLOADS AND RUNS LARGE THIRD-PARTY SOFTWARE AND MODELS,
AND USES YOUR GPU; YOU RUN IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE LICENSOR BE
LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF
CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH
THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE, INCLUDING ANY
LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR DAMAGE TO HARDWARE.

10. GENERAL

If any provision of this License is held unenforceable, the rest remains
in effect. The Licensor's failure to enforce any provision is not a
waiver of it. This License is the entire agreement between You and the
Licensor concerning the Software.

11. GRANTING MORE

The Licensor may grant broader permissions in writing, and intends to
consider more open terms as the project matures. If You want to do
something this License does not allow, ask.
