The automatic update check (FR-UI-UPD-02) is a new feature, so it is a minor bump under semver, not a patch. It was briefly cut as v0.8.1; that tag and its in-flight release build were removed before anything published, and it is renumbered 0.9.0 here. No code change from the 0.8.1 release commit - only the version strings in Cargo.toml (workspace), lockfile, README, user manual, and the CHANGELOG and ledger headings. Renumbers the release just cut as v0.8.1 to v0.9.0. The automatic update check (
