Additive Granular Looper is a 4-voice instrument built around additive synthesis, granular recording, filtering, looping, delay, and convolution reverb.
OSC -> Granular -> Compressor -> GEQ -> LPF -> Looper -> Delay -> Reverb
Osc_Plus and Osc_Max are two sound sources based on additive synthesis. Each one contains 8 sine waves tuned together to create beats and dissonances. The Timbre Plus/Max fader mixes these two sources.
The patch has 4-voice polyphony, and the number of harmonics is changed pseudo-randomly at each Note On.
LFO Color sets the pseudo-random seed. Higher values create a wider range, while LFO Rate and LFO Amount control the speed and amount of harmonic changes.
ADSR controls the envelope of the played notes only. It does not affect the Granular or Looper modules.
After each Osc voice there is a Granular module. When Arm to record is enabled, recording starts at each Note On. The controls allow you to change pitch, sample start, and timbre. Balance defines the relation between played notes and previously recorded notes.
After Granular, the signal passes through a Graphic Equalizer and a Filter. When the Filter is on, Wave selects between Sine and Saw. Rate and Amount control the speed and depth of the filter sweep.
The Looper recording is activated with the Press to record button. Its controls let you adjust pitch, sample position, and timbre. Balance defines the relation between Granular and Looper.
The Time fader controls delay repeats in milliseconds. When Delay LFO is enabled, LFO Rate and LFO Amount control the modulation speed and depth of delay time.
The IR Reverb uses four impulse responses recorded in Berlin, under bridges and in subway stations. IR Wave selects the impulse response, LPF and HPF filter the reverb, and Volume sets the dry/wet mix.
