The search is powered by lucene-kmp code by code KMP port of Apache Lucene handling stemming, stopwords providing powerfull full text search engine functionality based on language specific analzyewrs.

bbl was made available thanks to following:
- God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and The Holy Spirit who encouraged me to make this software.
- Command functionality is powered by Clikt. It validates the input of the number of chapters of a book, emits error when you request more chapter than the book has.
- Search is powered by lucene-kmp, a Kotlin Multiplatform Lucene port developed together with bbl.
- The code is written in Kotlin Programming Language.

I was long time Java developper and suffered from JAVA but loved Java, and I met kotlin and it solved all the suffering. So I love Kotlin more than Java now. I have no C, C++, Rust, Go skill.
If I had, I haven written bbl in them to prduce single binary. But installation size is smaller than pre-Java 9 application because bbl only includes reqired java modules, not entire JVM. I know Rust is the best. Sorry for inconvenience making installation directory dirty with many binary files.bbl now provides single binary executables by Kotlin Multiplatform and Kotlin/Native. This is a real joy because the original dream of bbl was a small command line Bible tool that can be installed and run as one executable. -
I think Apache Lucene is the best search library and I used it in old bbl as search provider. I did not want to use DBMS in command line app. However if we use Kotlin/Native we can not use use Lucene as it is. So I went on and port Apache Lucene as kmp library: lucene-kmp class-by-class, function-by-function port indexing and search capabiilty brought to Kotlin Multiplatform. bbl and lucene-kmp are developed together so bbl can dogfood and improve lucene-kmp search quality.

bbl uses Kotlin Multiplatform so the Bible, translation, and search logic can be shared by the command line tool and app targets.
