Smart Gas Cap is an innovative LPG gas safety system designed to detect gas leakage at its source and automatically shut off the gas flow before it becomes hazardous.
The project aims to improve safety in residential and industrial environments by combining gas sensing, automated mechanical shut-off, and intelligent monitoring.
LPG gas leaks are one of the leading causes of household and industrial accidents. Existing gas detectors only alert users after a leak occurs, relying on human intervention.
This project addresses that challenge by automatically stopping the gas flow immediately after detecting a leak.
The Smart Gas Cap integrates an MQ-2 gas sensor, Arduino Nano, and a servo-driven camera-aperture-inspired mechanism that physically seals the LPG cylinder outlet within milliseconds of detecting a leak.
The design is intended to function as a low-cost, plug-and-play safety solution.
