This also adds a call to
update_item_lookupon the map after all layers are saved, and in maps with a lot of layers, e.g. an SF volume with 400 layers, this takes about 6-8 seconds and there is no good UI feedback that the save is in process. Would be a good thing to run in the background down the road.
