CTO | Technology Executive | Fractional CTO

CTO, Technology Executive, and Fractional CTO helping organizations align technology decisions with business outcomes through AI strategy, Kubernetes, cybersecurity, and technology leadership.

I have led technology strategy, platform modernization, AI initiatives, cybersecurity programs, acquisition integration, and distributed teams at enterprise scale, including Vice President-level responsibility at The Linux Foundation.

I work with founders, CEOs, boards, investors, and operating partners on technology strategy, AI governance, cybersecurity, platform modernization, technology due diligence, and engineering leadership. My focus is practical: make technology risk visible, connect decisions to business outcomes, clarify ownership, and turn complex technical issues into executable operating plans.

I help boards and investors understand technology risk, operating readiness, governance, and value creation priorities.

I am especially focused on growth-stage companies, portfolio companies, and leadership teams preparing for scale, diligence, acquisition, or modernization.

Most technology failures in growing companies are not isolated engineering failures. They are failures of visibility, governance, prioritization, execution, and measurement. My work is built around helping leadership teams close that gap.

Connect

Current Focus

  • Fractional CTO and interim technology leadership
  • Full-time CTO opportunities
  • Technology due diligence for investors and acquirers
  • AI governance and executive adoption
  • Kubernetes, cloud-native, and platform modernization strategy
  • Cybersecurity, technology risk, and board-level reporting
  • PE operating partner, advisory, and board-facing technology work

What I Help Leadership Teams Do

  • Assess technology risk before investment, acquisition, or major growth decisions
  • Prepare companies for growth investment, diligence, scale, and modernization
  • Translate technical findings into business impact, ownership, timelines, and measurable actions
  • Support post-acquisition integration, knowledge transfer, and operating readiness
  • Build practical AI governance, knowledge governance, and risk management approaches
  • Modernize platforms while improving cost visibility, resilience, and execution discipline
  • Scale engineering organizations with clearer roles, operating cadence, and leadership accountability
  • Create board-ready technology reporting for risk, value creation, and strategic decisions

Technology Leadership Portfolio

The Technology Leadership Portfolio is the best starting point for understanding how these ideas connect. It shows a practical operating model that moves from methodology to assessment, implementation, and measurement, with an emphasis on governance, execution, operating plans, and measurable outcomes.

My GitHub work is organized as a Technology Leadership Portfolio: a practical system for assessing, operating, governing, implementing, and measuring technology organizations.

Start here: Technology Leadership Portfolio

The portfolio is not a collection of unrelated projects. It represents a connected operating model:

Layer Repository Purpose
Methodology CTO Operating System CTO, diligence, governance, board reporting, and operating partner frameworks
Assessment Executive AI Advisor AI-assisted technology diligence, board briefs, risk scorecards, AI governance assessments, and 100-day plans
Implementation K8s Platform Blueprint Kubernetes governance, FinOps, observability, policy controls, compliance evidence, and platform modernization patterns
Measurement Engineering Operating Metrics Delivery flow, review quality, rework, engineering cost, AI usage cost, risk, and governance metrics

Together, these repositories show how I think about technology leadership: define the framework, assess the company, translate risk into business language, build the operating plan, implement governance patterns, and measure whether execution is improving.

Problems I Help Solve

I help leadership teams answer questions such as:

  • What technology risks could affect growth, margin, security, acquisition value, or operating resilience?
  • Where is the organization dependent on one person, one vendor, one platform, or undocumented knowledge?
  • Which AI use cases are ready for adoption, and which require stronger governance first?
  • What should the board monitor over the next 30, 60, and 90 days?
  • How should engineering, platform, security, and product leaders align around measurable outcomes?
  • What should be fixed before a financing event, acquisition, scale-up phase, or turnaround?

The goal is not more technical activity. The goal is better executive decision-making, clearer ownership, better risk management, and stronger technology execution.

Speaking and Advisory Work

I speak and advise on technology leadership, AI strategy and governance, cybersecurity, open source, cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes, technology due diligence, and executive technology decision-making.

Selected experience includes technology leadership at The Linux Foundation from 2012 to 2026, most recently as Vice President, Technology & Education, where I led work across technology strategy, platform modernization, AI initiatives, cybersecurity programs, acquisition integration, executive alignment, and distributed teams.

I am based in Austin, Texas, and work with leadership teams that need experienced technology judgment, practical operating models, and clear communication between technical teams and business stakeholders.
