Tabify

A quick extension to ensure you don't open duplicate tabs.

Installation

Microsoft Edge

  1. Navigate to the Tabify Edge extension page.
  2. Click "Get" and install the extension.

Chrome

  1. Navigate to the Tabify Chrome extension page.
  2. Click "Get" and install the extension.

Manual Installation

  1. Clone the repository or download the ZIP file.
  2. Open Chrome and go to chrome://extensions/.
  3. Enable "Developer mode" in the top right corner.
  4. Click "Load unpacked" and select the extension folder.

Usage

  • Tabify works the moment it's installed — it's on by default, so there's nothing to configure.
  • Click the toolbar icon any time to open the settings menu (toggle protection, change matching rules, or exclude the current site).
  • Manage your full exclusion list from Excluded sites in the menu.

Features

  • Automatically closes duplicate tabs and (optionally) jumps you back to the original.
  • Smart matching: optionally treat links that differ only by query string (?…) or anchor (#…) as the same page.
  • Per-site exclusions with a searchable manager, inline add, and one-tap Undo.
  • Clean, intuitive menu that adapts to your system's light or dark appearance.

Development

If you're interested in contributing to Tabify, follow these steps:

  2. Create a new branch for your changes.
  3. Make your modifications and submit a pull request.
