Coding-agent-driven creation of editable, tastefully crafted visual artifacts.

Editable Visual Design turns a prompt into a structured design artifact with real text, independent assets, semantic HTML layers, and a replayable creation process—instead of shipping a flattened image.

Why Editable Visual Design

Image generation can quickly produce beautiful designs, but a local change often means regenerating the whole image. Direct coding provides structure, but its visual finish is inconsistent. Editable Visual Design combines visual direction and editable structure in one artifact.

Three Core Ideas

1. Coding-Agent-Driven Design

One persistent Coding Agent owns the artifact from intent to repair: understanding the brief, planning the composition, generating assets, implementing HTML, rendering, observing, and fixing the result. Agent Design Replay makes that path visible and traceable.

2. Visual Prior, Without Pixel Shipping

An image model provides art direction—composition, hierarchy, color, and spatial relationships—but its reference pixels never enter the delivered design. The agent generates clean assets and rebuilds typography and layout in HTML.

3. Editable and Quality-Gated Artifacts

The result contains real text, semantic layers, and independent assets that can be selected, moved, edited, and exported. Deterministic checks cover the canvas, fonts, layer contracts, rendering, and editor round trips.

Toolkit

This repository now ships the code behind the workflow as two independent Codex skills:

editable-design is the complete core workflow and does not require PowerPoint support. html-to-pptx is a sibling tool that runs only when a PPTX is requested. Installation is covered in Quick Start; the standalone Toolkit guide and each skill's README contain the detailed requirements and direct commands.

Quick Start

Option 1: Install with Codex

  1. Open a Codex task and ask Codex to install and initialize the Skill:

    Install and initialize the editable-design Codex Skill from:
    https://github.com/yejy53/Editable-Design/tree/main/skills/editable-design
    
    Install its runtime dependencies and font kit, then run its doctor check.
    
  2. Start a new Codex task, then describe the visual you want to create. For example:

    Use $editable-design to create an editable encyclopedia-style field guide about the red panda.
    
  3. The Skill will create the finished design together with its editable source: real text, independent imagery, semantic HTML layers, a visual editor, a layer breakdown, and an Agent Design Replay.

Recommended: Use GPT-5.6 with high reasoning effort or above for the strongest results.

Option 2: Install manually

Use a sparse, blob-filtered clone to install only the Skill without downloading the Gallery media:

Visual requirements:

The information density should be high but not crowded, and the final image should feel publishable, collectible, and repeatable as part of a wildlife knowledge-card series rather than an advertisement.

Do not make it look like a commercial zoo poster or an overly cute cartoon. Emphasize accurate wildlife representation, knowledge organization, modular information, and a natural-history field-guide presentation.
